Beginning this fall all graduate assistants at the University of Connecticut will be required to complete the Graduate Assistant Online Program for Teaching and Instruction. This 2-4 hour online training was designed to ensure that every graduate student who has or will hold a teaching position receives a foundation of educational pedagogy, instructional strategies, and assessment and evaluation guides.
Available on Husky-CT as “ 64 NEW SPRING 2017 GRADUATE STUDENTS,” students have until May 5th, 2017 to complete the training. Students will receive reminders until they complete the training.
The training needs only to be completed once in a graduate student’s career, and the training will take between 2-4 hours to complete. Comprised of online videos, readings, and quizzes, the training is mandatory for all students with a graduate assistant contract. The training must be completed by May 5th, 2017. This training builds upon the information graduate students receive in their face-to-face orientations and supplements their training with critical information regarding support services and resources. Designed in collaboration with The Graduate School, the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and the Neag School of Education, the Graduate Assistant Program for Teaching and Instruction develops graduate students’ foundational knowledge and skills useful in their current and future teaching positions.
